The other day, my nightmare quality in fallen london rose to 8 despite my goldfish. Interesting experience, and not really bad, in my opinion.. gave me opportunities to raise my walking the fallen cities and some other qualities. Now I wonder if all the other ‘bad things’ (scandal, suspicion, wounds) are equally harmless when they rise too high. I’ll guess that wounds too high leads to death, which might have the bad side effect of loosing items? Or something.

They’re all that harmless! The only “harm” is in having to be Somewhere Else for a bit (and I suppose you noticed the dream quality reduction on your way out of the State of Some Confusion.). Definitely worth letting your menaces get too high at least once, to experience the writing in those areas.
